|Casnuova della Cerbaie
|Brunello di Montalcino
Casanuova delle Cerbaie is famous for crafting approachable yet ageworthy Brunellos. Located just northwest of the town of Montalcino itself, the vineyards are in one of the appellation’s cooler microclimates known for yielding wines with beautiful aromatics and an elegant structure. The wine spends at least 24 months in large old casks from the famed cooper Stockinger before bottling, but the aging process does not stop there. The winery holds back thousands of cases every year so they are able to offer wines with more age than most of their peers. While the 2009 vintage was ripe and robust in its youth, time has softened this wine’s tannins and the fruit is just starting to give way to more herbal, savory characteristics.
